It all started when...

My sister-in-law, Taryn, invited me over to her house yesterday for Olive Garden take-out. It was sort of a little celebration for my birthday and Jennie's birthday too. My hubby and Jennie's hubby were taking all our kids to the park down the street and we were going to have a little lunch just us girls.

That's not what happened. Not what happened at all.

So, we get to Taryn's house and Jennie's hubby and my hubby take all the kids (minus the new little guy). We get to chatting but I don't see any food around and I'm all, "So, what's the plan? Are we eating soon?" And Taryn's all, "Um, I don't know what the plan is, actually." And then she starts baby talking her new little boy and I'm left starving and craving Olive Garden salad. We keep talking and Taryn's asks to see my new photo blog. Jennie, Taryn, and I head on over to the computer and get lost in my blog and then check out every blog (relatives and friends) that we can think of stalking.

Next thing I know, John and Jennie's hubby are back with all the kids. My father-in-law and mother-in-law are all of a sudden in Taryn's living room and everyone starts looking at me funny and I realize....

I'm in the middle of a surprise party! A surprise party that's for me.

I walk into the living room and see a huge Olive Garden take-out bag filled to the top with bread sticks and yummy salad (thanks Kay!). Everyone says "Happy Birthday!" and I am truly shocked about it. I should have known it was coming though!

You have to know that in my hubby's family, surprise parties are a must. But almost always, the person getting thrown the surprise party figures it out. John has never been able to truly surprise me on my birthday before.

Until now.

I had the best time and it was so nice to feel so loved and cared for. My hubby got me a beautiful necklace, took me to IKEA (yay!), and took the kids for two hours while I got my hair cut and styled, and my eyebrows done. Thanks to my in-laws and my mom, we did all that with my birthday money!

It was an awesome day.

I wish I had pictures but I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't whip out my camera. Besides, I think Taryn took a few shots and since it was my party, I thought it appropriate that someone else handle the camera for a change.

Thank you everyone! I had the best day.
