Tarter Sauce!

This picture was a long time ago. Probably before Spongebob.

Do you watch Spongebob Squarepants? Do you let your kids watch Spongebob? When my son was born I thought I would never let him watch TV. I thought it was such a waste of time and just not beneficial at all. But then something monumental happened...
I had a second child.
And although I still think most shows are what I previously stated I decided that TV was ok sometimes since having a minute to myself was absolutely and utterly necessary for the sanity of all in my household and painting is not something that should be done without supervision.
I began with the Noggin channel. I just love Noggin. His favorites are Franklin and Oswald. I like that he likes those shows better than any other show.
Every show but...Spongebob.
One day, sometime last year, he saw it somehow. Maybe I put it on in a moment of weakness when showering was an absolute necessity and my children were literally IN MY FACE and I panicked and just put on the square sponge to babysit for a few minutes while I tended to my personal hygiene. I don't know exactly when it was. But he loves him, it, whatever it is you call Spongebob.
We limit it big time but it is now Papa and John time in the evenings. After dinner, Papa says, "you ready to watch Spongebob?" and little John's like, "yeah!"
So now we hear stuff like "Tarter Sauce!" and "Barnacles!" all the time.
I think it's hilarious.
And if you are a mom reading this who is just so awesome that TV is not allowed in your home and you all function properly, than tarter sauce, you're just something else, I tell you what.

  1. Love it Bonnie! I swore Enoch would never watch Spongebob but Enoch loves it, nonetheless, and I even catch myself giggling sometimes.

  2. SpongeBob rocks! Here's my little secret - if it happens to be on, I watch it even when my kids are in the other room. I LOVE SpongeBob. My favorite is the cardboard box and "Imagination". Makes me laugh every single time. Give in to the little square sponge...

  3. Yup, we've all been there. Do they still have Danny Phantom? I loved that one. I had no complaints about my son's obsession with that show.
